Taylor Swift becomes beautiful CoverGirl

Multi-platinum singer-songwriter Taylor Swift can now add COVERGIRL to her list of accomplishments. The 20-year-old, GRAMMY award-winning star has just finished shooting her first advertisements for the beauty giant, and will represent a new line of luxury products for the brand. The ads are scheduled to debut in January 2011.

With millions of fans worldwide, Swift has achieved remarkable success since first entering the country music scene in 2006. To date she has sold more than thirteen million albums and is the top-selling digital artist in music history. Her second album, Fearless, has spent more weeks in the top spot on Billboard’s all-genre Top 20 chart than any other album this decade. The GRAMMY Awards, the Country Music Association, the Academy of Country Music, and the American Music Awards all named Fearless the 2009 Country Album of the Year and, this year, the album won the all-genre GRAMMY Award for Album of the year. Last year, Swift earned the American Music Award for Artist of the Year and was the youngest artist ever to win the prestigious CMA Award for Entertainer of the Year.

“With her fresh beauty and authentic style, Taylor is a wonderful addition to the COVERGIRL family,” said Vince Hudson, General Manager, COVERGIRL Cosmetics. “Through all her success, Taylor remains a grounded and sincere woman who connects with fans everywhere just by being true to who she is. She personifies the iconic image of the brand while representing the next generation of both inner and outer beauty.”

“I am so excited to become the next COVERGIRL,” said Swift. “I have admired many of the COVERGIRLs since I was a little girl . . . great artists and actresses who are confident and still themselves. It’s like a dream come true to be a part of the future of COVERGIRL.”

3 Ringed Circus at Amanda Lepore's Big Top

3AtCircus
The other night I stopped by Kenny Kenny's new soon-to-be-legendary party for Amanda Lepore. There was enough glitter, sequins and spandex to outfit an entire performing troupe. These 3 girls alone make me (almost) love spandex. And I lovelovelove the gold high tops on the girl in the middle! So nice to see flats on a girl out at night! And the feather earrings on the girl on the left are great as well.

David Beckham will start vs. Man. United

Seven Years after leaving Manchester United for Real Madrid, in what was a mega transfer at the time, David Beckham is set to start against the club that turned him into a football god and global celebrity.

Facing his former club for the first time on Tuesday

The England midfielder, who never faced United during four seasons at Real Madrid, will get the opportunity during a second loan spell at Milan from the Los Angeles Galaxy of MLS.

AC Milan hosts United on Tuesday as the Champions League resumes after a two-month break, with the eight first-leg matches in the first knockout round split over two weeks.

An Italian source in Milan says,”Beckham will start on the right side of midfield with Pato just ahead of him in a 4-3-3 formation. Beckham has played up front in a three and it hasn’t worked – he is too old for all of that running around – but he is better off on the right of midfield, and we think he will start. That’s what we have been told and that is what has appeared in the press today.”

Beckham has been on the bench for the last two Serie A matches could replace Gennaro Gattuso in an attacking midfield line-up alongside Andrea Pirlo and Massimo Ambrosini. This position on the pitch suits his style of play much better than on the right side of the three man attack for Milan. It is expected that Alexandre Pato and Ronaldinho will then form a three-man attack with striker Klaas-Jan Huntelaar.

David Beckham playing for Man. United vs. Leeds United in 2003

David Beckham did say it will be difficult to keep his emotions in check, but he admits this is the first time he will want Man. United to lose a match.

“As an AC Milan player, I want to beat Manchester United and to say that as a Man U fan is quite difficult. As much as it is emotional for me personally, it is important that we win the game. I am a Milan player and I want us to play well in the game and progress to the next stage.”

Beckham left Old Trafford under a cloud in 2003 after 394 appearances in 11 years, with manager Sir Alex Ferguson frustrated by the then-England captain’s celebrity lifestyle.

Bitches with Cigarette Burns

Hiraku
Last night I went to the meatpacking district club Griffin for the first time. It was a little too full of Gossip Girl wannabes and the men who buy them drinks, (James Coppola's table being the obvious exception!)but I also met some cool people. Like Hiraku Morilla who is one half of a design duo that goes by the memorable name The Bitches with Cigarette Burns. I think his look is perfection from head to toe. And it also reminds me that I really want to get some Doc Martens for summer...

A Dandy in New York

MattFoxNY_dandy
While nowadays there are many looks for men from the black skinny jean hipster to skate punk to preppy, many of them seem to be personified by a distinct desire not to grow up. Or a frightening excess of facial hair - which is perhaps overcompensation for feelings of insecurity in terms of their masculinity. The Dandy is a distinct look that is refined and is worn by those secure enough to know that elegance and masculinity are not necessarily polar opposites. Matt Fox is one such person and has a sense of style I've always admired. In addition he is one of the owners of the Fine and Dandy Shop, an online emporium which offers "accessories for dapper guys". He was also nice enough to answer  style questions for Style Defined.

How long has the Fine and Dandy Shop site been in existence?

We launched on October 31, 2008. It's been just over a year and we couldn't be more pleased with the response.

And how did it start?
For as long as I can remember I've wanted to open a shop. But the cost of real estate in NYC has made it more of a dream than a reality. It was just over two years ago that I had the idea to give it a try online. The online world is so ideal for a niche market concept. It's really incredible the number of people we've met online who identify as dandies.

What defines a Dandy?
The Merriam-Webster dictionary defines a dandy as "a man who gives exaggerated attention to personal appearance." In the modern world I think a dandy pays particular attention to the details of his dress and makes the extra effort to look his best each day.

If someone wanted to become a bit "dandified" how would you advise them to begin?
Is there one or two particular articles of clothing or accessories you'd recommend? I would recommend a couple of well-tailored suits and a few well-chosen accessories. A couple of great ties (or bow ties if he's adventurous enough), a tie bar, a couple of pocket squares, and some great socks. It's all about the details. The biggest thing is caring enough to take the time each day to look his best.

Are there any role models in film or literature for aspiring dandies?
Of course there are the obvious in literature like The Scarlet Pimpernel and The Great Gatsby. Recent films with dandy inspiration are Sherlock Holmes and Brideshead Revisited.

Do you think the interest in Dandies stems at all from a (negative) reaction to the modern world or technology?
I think it's more of a rejection of the trend over the last several decades of casual dress. Casual Friday has been extended to each day of the week in many workplaces. But I think the tide is turning. Even the New York Times wrote recently about younger guys increasingly dressing up. TV shows like Mad Men probably have something to do with it but I also think recession is a factor. We all have to dress to impress (and keep our jobs).

And is there anywhere in particular to go to find dandies?

Take it to the streets! The best style inspiration is seeing the guys walking the streets of New York City. From the older, blue blood of the upper east side to the hipster dandies of the lower east side, the fashion dandies of 5th Avenue to the dapper Wall Street gents. Dandies are everywhere you look!

MarediModa/IntimodiModa coming soon

Maredimoda Intimodimoda, the international invitation-only show for beach and underwear fabrics Made in Europe, has officially announced the dates for its ninth edition, backed by results from the last fair, which showed an increase in visitors of more than 8% compared to 2008 (3,161 instead of 2,920), when 15 more exhibitors took part.

For over 100 exhibitors it was a chance to meet buyers from the 800 most qualified manufacturers in the world, representing 70 countries including Italy, France, Spain, Great Britain, the United States, Japan and Russia. These figures reward careful selection of exhibitors through meticulous internal procedures, the quality of the products on show, an unusual formula and the work environment at a fair which is univocally recognised as being the unique unrivalled benchmark for the highest representation of European collections for beach and underwear. This result, confirmed and emphasised by sample interviews carried out in the fair just a few hours before it closed, must also be seen as a fairly strong signal of confidence regarding the new-found enthusiasm of buyers in Cannes.

“The next edition of MarediModa/IntimodiModa”, stresses President Claudio Taiana, “will feature important evolution in terms of supply. In the first place, we will be dedicating more space and a new format to the trend forum, coming up with a big-impact truly innovative formula. We will be hosting and sponsoring an important international forum in the wake of last year’s success, we will give more visibility and value to the dedicated Outsourcing area that we were the first to introduce as a qualified model of alternative production. We are extremely pleased to see that our example has been followed by other international shows. We will be presenting activity category models regarding the real opportunities that outsourcers have if they no longer target the Far East, but look to North Africa or Eastern Europe: Maredimoda Intimodimoda will in fact be at the Salon De la Lingerie in Tunis in April with a view to further strengthening relationships with our North African partners. We will also see the second act of THE LINK, the world’s most ambitious talent scouting competition, involving the 100 most famous creativity schools in Europe. Its debut far exceeded expectations for the quality of the work presented by the students involved”.

Mention must also be made of the huge investment already made in terms of resources and energy into the underwear section, set to play a decisive role in the short term for the fair due also to its scheduling and strategic positioning. First-time previews of collections will be organised for top buyers and co-marketing with exhibitors will be fine-tuned.

chelsea in her empire dress

_DSC0009

I met Chelsea at the Maison Margiela party the other night through our mutual friend Peter Hale Cooney III. I told her I liked her dress and she said it's her own design. Maxi dresses will be big this summer but this one's different than most that look like they're straight from an LA party circa '79. This is an empire dress with a gathered bottom and a decidedly romantic feel. I especially love the pocket details!

Street Style NYC @ Good Units

_DSC0009
This is one from the archive: from a party at Good Units. I love this club below the Hudson Hotel and it's supercool vibe. The best part is that there is NO Cellphone reception so people have to deal with their insecurities and just talk to strangers instead of masking it in self-important texting and chatting. I wish cells were banned from nightlife with the exception of tracking down friends. And if you had friends as fun and stylish as these two you wouldn't be looking for more elsewhere!

Stefanie Voegele Switzerland Tennis Player

Stefanie Voegele is another hot tennis player from Switzerland. After Martina Hingis retired there really wasn't any other Swiss female tennis player worthy to replace great Martina, both in terms of game as well as beauty. In terms of game Stefanie Voegele doesn't look to be challenging great Martina Hingis but in terms of beauty definitely. Hopefully we'll see much more of this Swiss tennis beauty in future.

Here are some nice hot photos featuring hot female tennis player Stefanie Voegele. Click on the picture to enlarge it.
