Okay, we're interrupting our normal postings for a mini-rant. Last night we attended SHOP NYC - a Gen Art event which featured emerging designers (and where we found some fabulously stylish people - coming soon on this blog!)
But what we want to discuss now is the gift bag "valued at over $250" according to Gen Art and why it is so not fabulous. We're normally suckers for all swag bags and oooh and aaah over free stuff like everyone else. But...well, see below.
Bag contents
1. Clean & Clear Advantage Acne Control Kit.
Okay, first there's the implication that our skin has issues and that our dermatologists aren't doing us any favors. But to add insult to injury on the bottom of the package is a stamp stating "Expires 2008/08"...isn't that right now?...
2. Small bottle of Demeter cologne.
This could be good! Oh. Wait. The fragrance is "baby powder". Well could this be reminiscent of Loves Babysoft? Something to wear with a little irony? We take a whiff. It smells exactly like baby powder. Visions of weekends spent babysitting and changing diapers race through our minds. Goodbye, cologne.
3. Deluxe Cocktail Shaker
Cute. But we open the box and see it has a TGI Fridays label on it. We didn't realize TGI Fridays was a sponsor! (but they must be because there was a TGI Fridays magnet in the bag too)
On a positive note, there was a certificate for a bikini wax at Completely Bare that we'll definitely be using!
Note to Gen Art: lets have a little truth in advertising please.
