Happy Halloween Weekend
So tonight all of NYC will dress (or undress) like Amanda Lepore does everyday. So the question is: who has more fun?
Scarlett poses with new designs of MANGO winter
Once again, Scarlett Johansson, one of the most internationally-famous Fashion models, will feature in the new MANGO winter campaign. This is the third time the actress has launched the firm’s new designs since she became the face of the brand last year.
A typical London residence was the setting chosen by MANGO for the photo shoot, in which the actress once again posed before the camera of Mario Sorrenti. The prestigious photographer, who has collaborated with MANGO since Scarlett became the face of the brand, succeeding in immortalising the more elegant and romantic side of the actress. Jane How was responsible for the styling, while Lucía Pieroni and Oribe, respectively, were responsible for make-up and hair styling.
In this new collection, MANGO takes a fresh look at the timeless classics of British country style: trench coats, double-breasted jackets and tailored coats, without forgetting, in knitwear, the basics and thicker garments with a handmade look.
The carefree combination of these traditional garments is evocative of the late 70s. Tweed, corduroy and leather, together with sheer silks and touches of gold, create a contrast between the masculine and the feminine, giving new meaning to the classics.

Chrissie Miller from Sophomore - Fashion Friday
Chrissie is wearing Sophomore's brilliant "Flowers in the Attic" t-shirt -from the book that i stole from my babysitter to read the "dirty parts" when i was a kid and jeans by Court Jeans
Chrissie, along with Madeline von Froomer is the designer for the label Sophomore. Unapologetically at ease with herself in the world, she has none of the pretensions that you sometimes find in the fashion world. Which makes sense since she's a native new york city girl who began by making t-shirts for herself and her friends. So she wasn't trying to be a fashionista: she just did her own thing and the girls who loved her cool/casual style started following Sophomore. Not unlike how the really cool girl in highschool will inevitably divert a little attention from the Queen Bees without even trying...
You can find Sophomore at Opening Ceremony in Manhattan and Bird in Brooklyn and a bunch of other places as well as online. All the deets are on their site.

Interview on Zink Magazine
Oh. And on an altogether different note. Like everyone else in the universe I cannot believe that Gretchen won Project Runway. And not because of her challenging personality, but because I truly believe Mondo was much more talented and showed a better collection. Plus I'm not a west coast hippie granola girl and I could never imagine wearing the prints and colors from Gretchen's collection –even if she's "on trend" in that 1983-86 but add in a recession kinda way. Sigh...I don't know what's more depressing...that Gretchen won, that Nina and Michael wanted her to win or that I care? It kinda makes me not want to keep watching Project Runway though, know what I mean?
Hello gorgeous...
Okay, so some people win the genetic gene pool. But they can't help it. Still we can admire it. And the adorable studded vest...
Saher Dia’s collection dazzles crowds at Dubai Fashion Week
Simple gowns in gold, white and nudes with shoulder and bust embroidery started the show as models walked in from under an archway of flowers. These were followed by bohemian chic dresses with snake, leopard and other digital prints in pink, grey and silver. Gowns in varying intensities of red, orange, gold, emerald and lilac followed, in a bid to joyously usher in springtime.
Dia’s signature style of simple cuts with strategically placed Swarovski stones was evident in all the ensembles. A bold swimsuit-like outfit encrusted in purple and white crystals with a chiffon cape won instant audience approval.
The bridal collection that followed was a mix of white lace, taffeta tulle and satin, embellished with crystals and accentuated by trailing veils delicately dusted with the precious stones. The collection, titled “Glamorous” made ample use of gold lamé as an under-layer for patterned tulle, adding to the allure and shimmer of the outfit.

Hey you!
Amanda x 2
It was a ridiculously beautiful day today –especially considering it's almost November! It can be tough trying to figure out what to wear that works with the weather and the seasons in these instances (at least on the East Coast where it's normally cooler) Amanda kept it simple with lightweight neutrals and knitwear draped around her shoulders to guard against a drop in temperature or the assault of air conditioning. The citron belt adds a nice touch of color as well.
I added this photo so you can see the sideview of her hairstyle. While I openly hate super long hair with a shaved side, short lengths like this totally work in my opinion. I think they're wildly chic.
Adriana Lima endorses Victoria’s Secret Bombshell
Victoria's Secret Angel Adriana Lima has been chosen to wear this year's Bombshell Fantasy Bra Pantie Set designed exclusively by Damiani for Victoria's Secret to be featured in the 2010 Victoria's Secret Christmas Dreams and Fantasies Catalogue and on the runway at The Victoria's Secret Fashion Show which airs Tuesday, November 30 (10/9C) on the CBS Television Network.
The bra features an astounding 60 carats of diamonds and 82 carats of sapphires and topazes and the bra pattern was designed to evoke a heavenly display of swirling stars and constellations—perfect for a Victoria's Secret Angel. The fantasy bra is featured in the 2010 Victoria's Secret Christmas Dreams and Fantasies Catalogue hitting mailboxes on October 20th. It is the jewel-in-the-crown of the Victoria's Secret Holiday season, a book bursting with beautiful stories and photography that envelops her in fantasy with every turn of the page. Miami Beach International Fashion Week in March 2011
The inaugural Miami Style Awards not only recognized South Florida's fashion elite in grand style at the W South Beach, but organizers officially announced that Miami International Fashion Week will return to Miami Beach in 2011 and will be rebranded as "Miami Beach International Fashion Week (MBIFW)." The largest Latin American and international fashion event InFashion 2011 in the U.S. drawing innovative designers from around the world is scheduled to take place at the Miami Beach Convention Center March 3 - 6, 2011.
Since leaving Miami Beach in 2006, the annual event has grown significantly in its global reach and has earned an influential role in South Florida's garment, tourism, international business, and hospitality industries.
"During the 2010 shows at the Shops at Midtown Miami, we had more than 58 international Fashion designers from 22 countries throughout Latin America, the Caribbean, India, the Philippines, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Lebanon, Europe who unveiled their latest collections in women's evening wear, pret-a-porter, La perla swimwear, men's wear, jewelry and accessories," said founder and President Beth Sobol. "Overall, it's estimated that Fashion Week contributes about $10 million annually to the local economy as participants spend money on hotels, restaurants, entertainment, and transportation."
MBIFW will continue several of Fashion Week's trademark events such as the exciting Miami Moda & Music Awards show that takes place on the final night and presents honors and awards to pioneering designers and features live performances from electrifying recording stars.

Too stylish to be true?
I was asked a question the other day: what did I consider a fashion faux pas. I gave this some thought and realized that many things that could be considered faux pas are merely a matter of taste. And I also knew that what I really consider to be a faux pas is our collective citing of "comfort" as our excuse for being poorly dressed –or worse looking positively dull! And you know what I'm talking about: the scads of people in the airports in sweats, the girls wearing flip flops at upscale restaurants and the generic t-shirt and jeans for all occasions. And the argument is always for comfort. So I would like the photo of these two to serve as a counter argument. Wear a vintage/mod looking top with trousers and loafers like the guy on the left or play with the animal print theme popular this season like the girl on the right and look smashing. It really couldn't be simpler. Also how much do we love that they both happen to have side-sweeping hair?
The Middle East Fashion Days closes on high note
The Middle East Fashion Days by Who’s Next & Premiere Classe in Dubai concluded today on a high note. The three-day event hosted an exclusive mix of over 150 ready-towear and accessory designers at the Madinat Jumeirah. Regional and international retailers attended the event from Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Lebanon and the UAE, along with key industry leaders from the fashion world.
‘Who’s Next and Premiere Classe served as an ideal launchpad for two scoops’, says Joana Samhoun, Managing Director of two scoops. ‘As the distribution arm of suce, we were looking to introduce our designers to a wide range of regional and international buyers and the show provided us with that opportunity. The brands were really well received and we look forward to another successful show next year’.
The final day of the event hosted a catwalk show featuring loungewear by Passionata accessorised by Marbella jewellery, while Ayesha Depala showcased her couture collection to a packed audience, and Essa closed the event as the grand finale with an action-packed safari-inspired show.
The last WGSN forum hosted Sian Tichar from ABCD Publishing, Shazad Haider from fashion school Esmod, and Melina Mitri from local retailer Suce and the newly launched regional fashion distribution agency two scoops.

Has the internet changed the fashion industry? How?
It has made fashion more accessible to more people, it doesn't matter where you live. It also put people more in contact with the designer which is great!

HARMONICS
I was inspired by sound waves- the shapes they make and how they symbolize our communication to one another. I took the curves of the waves and then contoured them on the body to enhance the female form through both cut and print. I wanted to create a statement for a woman, through the shapes of sound, to communicate to the world without even saying a word. –Althea Harper
