A super chic couple
We thought our friends (& happy couple) Michelle Harper and Daniel Leeb looked rather dashing and ready to face the cold. We especially are loving their hats and Michelle's sunglasses. Tres chic mes chéris!

Global Fashion: From Sexy Lingerie To Warming Furs & Leather
The international economic and financial crisis now has the global textile and clothing market firmly in its clutches. In China last month whole series of textile and clothing firm had to fold. The largest Chinese consumer goods fair in Canton posted a drop in export orders of a good 30%.
The textile and clothing business in numerous high-consuming European countries has been paralysed since last summer if not before, prompting those supplying the clothing industry and large retail forms to revise their sourcing cycles, volume and regions even more stringently. A partial re-orientation is on the cards in many sourcing companies and new suppliers from other countries are being tested. Alongside new regions in Asia, Eastern Europe and especially North Africa are now moving more strongly into focus due to their greater market proximity, great flexibility and lower batch sizes per style.
Global Fashion remains Europe’s leading fair for sourcing, private label and contract manufacturing when it comes to seeking new sourcing areas in the fashion business. Held once again in parallel to CPD and HMD from 1 to 3 February 2009 this special fair will this time be hosted in Hall 5. Once again it offers international sourcing management from both trade and industry a comprehensive kaleidoscope of companies from throughout the world. With 320 exhibitors from 20 countries Global Fashion presents a comprehensive range of companies and countries. This time exhibitors come from Bangladesh, Bulgaria, Canada, Egypt, Germany, Great Britain, India, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Macao, Morocco, Nigeria, Pakistan, Panama, the People’s Republic of China including Hong Kong, Portugal, Serbia, Taiwan and the Ukraine.
Companies from Serbia and Morocco attending for the First Time
Amongst those celebrating their premiere this time at Global Fashion are companies from Serbia and Morocco. They enhance the new ‘Global Exclusive’ segment launched at the July 2008 event. The Serbian Chamber of Commerce will be presenting six companies as part of a joint stand. These firms produce women’s and men’s clothing and wish to score points with buyers from trade and industry with short and flexible delivery times, competitive prices, good value for money, good quality thanks to state-of-the-art technology and staff with great know-how.
With four companies the Moroccan clothing association A.M.I.T.H. will also be exhibiting in the fashion metropolis on the Rhine for the first time now. The ranges of these firms demonstrate the wide choice of manufacturing segments the Moroccan clothing industry has to offer. For instance, Cabilux covers almost the entire clothing range – from nightwear and homewear through to women’s wear, children’s wear and men’s sportswear. Dounitex is specialised in shirts and blouses, complemented by pyjamas and corporate clothing.

A study in eclecticism
A pinstripe suit is turned on its head by rolling up the pants to reveal pink socks and athletic shoes. The look is topped off with a fedora. This look, along with yesterday's, is quirky in a way that I rarely see with women's looks. Is this because there are more "fashionable" options for women? Or are women more fearful of appearing odd/different/potentially ridiculous? Any thoughts?

Trend: big ass glasses
I remember 6th grade like yesterday. It was the year that we moved from a lower income neighborhood to a "nice" neighborhood. It was the year that my mother got pregnant with my little sister. (which was sooo embarassing...she was, like, 40!) It was the year that I went from normal to that super geeky girl who didn't have Nikes or Lacoste sweaters. On top of this, it was decided that I needed glasses. And my mom got me some big ass glasses. That's what the insurance plan allowed. So...clearly I have some personal issues with the big glasses that are suddenly so rampant with the uber-chic. These white ones caught my eye however. And there are actual lenses in them. So maybe he really needs them. Maybe they're what his moms could get on her insurance. Or maybe they're just really cool. You tell me...I can't decide.

HSBC Colombo Fashion Week 2009 begins from Feb 19
HSBC Colombo Fashion Week 2009 takes another step forward in its long term plan to uplift the Sri Lankan fashion industry. Unlike other fashion events, these shows go beyond entertainment and celebrity value to deliver upon a far more significant intent.HSBC CFW 2009 is being held in association with Taj Samudra, the host hotel for the 14 Sri Lankan designers and 7 international designers whose collections will be seen on the 19th,20th and 21st February by an exclusive audience of invitees only. Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau joins hands this year with CFW as a destination host, creating a strategic partnership that will work towards exploring opportunities for Sri Lanka as a destination. The collections this year will be ready for retail orders, while Sri Lankan collections will find prominent spaces at well-known Sri Lankan retail stores. The newcomers to the show this year are Kanchana, Sarani, Charani, LICC and another 4 collections which will be unveiled at the event. The other Sri Lankan designers who will be presenting are Prabath, Middle Finger, Yoland Aluvihare, Sonali White, Asanga and Darshi Keertisena. “We aim to complete the cycle with our Sri Lankan designers, assisting them to take their designs beyond the ramp; to begin designing as per trends, and with the end consumer in mind. This results in attracting retailers to their garments, for them to reach that fashion customer. It completes the commercial infrastructure and thereby allows them to develop as designers and sustain themselves.” says Ajai Vir Singh, Founder of HSBC Colombo Fashion Week. “Fashion industries in South Asia have made notable progress and we need to start by keeping pace with them and then moving ahead. This is why it is important to invite the international designers to be a part”, he added by saying. With seven respected designers from Pakistan, Bangladesh and India being invited to present their collections, designers and audiences alike are sure to be inspired by all that is available from South Asia, as well as recognize the consumer value and relevance to both the local and world market. The interest shown by the designers is evidence of their confidence in the success of the event. Raghuvendra Rathore from Jodhpur, India, worked with Donna Karan, Oscar de la Renta and Bill Blass before becoming known for his timeless style, extraordinarily tailored bandhgalas and for contemporizing the Jodhpur trousers. Rizwan Beyg from Pakistan was named ‘One of the 100 most influential Asians’ by Ahlan, a Dubai lifestyle magazine. His high profile clients include HRH the late Princess Diana, HRH Princess Sarvath of Jordan and Jemima Khan and his collections have graced the most prestigious catwalks around the world.
