Seen at the Seven party at the Tribeca Grand
Have I told you that the fashion week party by Seven New York is one of my favorites? Sure there are alot of parties this week associated with major magazines and alot of designer after parties, and admittedly many of them are great as well! But this party always has a fun relaxed atmosphere without the networking/strategizing vibe that infects other events during NYFW. And some of the best style around! So thanks Steve, Joseph and Tribeca Grand for your swell event!

fur or feathers...
I thought this was another fur but on closer inspection it seems it might be made of feathers?...either way he proves that with an eye-catching coat and some shades even boys can get away with spandex leggings...or mostly. Oh and someone (comment below) informed me that this is the blogger Bryan Boy. Thanks for the info!

Houman and his Sister
I saw the lovely Houman with his equally lovely sister at a soiree at the Tribeca Grand. I adore his utter fearlessness in wearing the unexpected, and he always manages to be more chic than outrageous. A rarity in NYC where men seem to be in either denim or sequins.

trend sighting: over-the-knee boot
Thigh-high boots are a hot way to refresh a look. I love all these things this girl is wearing...just not convinced of the color combination. For some reason the blue, black and grey are one color too many in my opinion. But let me know what you think...

A certain something
Style is having that undefinable "je ne sais quoi". There was nothing particularly exceptional about this girl but she has that something that kept drawing my eye.

can we say 1989?
Seriously I have never seen someone replicate a look so precisely from a different era. This one being like 20 years ago...the high-waisted denim short over tights, the sheer black shirt, the...is that a perm? The only false note are the shoes. Platforms were big in the 70s but definitely not in the late 80s. Doc Martens would have been more authentic. But then I'm making an assumption that she was going for authenticity which might not be the case.

Introducing the twentyten
The other night I was at a party at the Tribeca Grand when I spotted this girl in this amazing dress. She shared with me that it was designed by the twentyten. I then met another girl also wearing a dress by the twentyten. I had never heard of the twentyten but coincidentally earlier in the week had received an invite to a preview of their recent collection. The twentyten is a collaboration of 3 designers: Nina Zilka, Jeff Dodd, and David J. Krause and you can see images from their latest collection as well as read a Q + A with Nina here...nothing I love more then discovering new design talent...

Blondes have more fun...
So I'm jet lagged and the parties don't start 'til tomorrow so here is a photo taken last weekend. I love his whole look and also that his whole vibe is positive and sans attitude. And maybe it has nothing to do with his having blonde hair...or maybe mother was right that it's like having your own little bit of sunshine with you always...or was she talking about something else altogether?

Pixie Girl
Love the short hair...kind of like a new version of the pixie cut. I'm also loving someone who looks great without looking like she's consciously referencing a former decade.

John Hughes casting call?
Remember Sixteen Candles? The Breakfast Club? John Hughes was a master of teen angst in the Eighties. We can't help but think these two would be shoo-ins for modern reinterpretations of those classics.

Yoko Deveraux party at the Tribeca Grand

Tuesday night was unseasonably cold outside but nice and toasty at the Tribeca Grand where we attended a fabulous -and fabulously friendly in a way that seems unique to New York City- party for Yoko Deveraux and the genius behind it, Andy Salzer. Sadly, my "little black book" went missing so I don't have all the info on everyone...yet. Our friend Jose found it and we'll be hooking up with him soon and updating our info. Be sure to check out our My Space page for even more photos!
